Selected Experience Led by BeyondFashion Principals
From Responsible Ideas to Real-World Results
Whole Foods
Whole Foods wanted to extend its wellness leadership beyond food and into sustainable lifestyle products. Led by Marci Zaroff, the team developed and executed a first-of-its-kind “store-within-a-store” concept for Under the Canopy inside Whole Foods’ 100,000-square-foot Austin flagship—bringing certified sustainable apparel and home textiles into a food-first retail environment and helping establish “food and fiber” as part of a broader wellness proposition.
IMPACT
The 2,000-square-foot concept generated more than $25,000 in first-week sales from a single store, validating consumer demand and paving the way for expansion across Whole Foods locations in the U.S. and internationally. Under the Canopy became a category captain for home and apparel, helping Whole Foods broaden its wellness platform while proving that sustainable soft goods could perform at scale in mainstream retail.
Eileen Fisher
Eileen Fisher wanted to elevate its handmade sweater category while meeting rigorous organic and fair trade standards—without sacrificing the softness, drape and quality expected from a premium knitwear brand. The team developed a vertically integrated artisan supply chain across South America, connecting certified organic materials, fair trade production and skilled craftsmanship into a model that could scale for major retail.
IMPACT
Launched in 1997, the program grew into a multi-million-dollar platform sold through Eileen Fisher flagship stores and retailers including Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus. It generated more than $25 million in revenue supporting women artisans and entrepreneurs, while demonstrating that artisan-made, responsibly sourced knitwear could scale without compromising quality or integrity.
Target
Target set out to bring certified organic and sustainable textiles to the mass market—at a scale and price point accessible to mainstream consumers. The team helped develop and launch traceable, farm-to-finish kitchen and bedding collections, combining sustainable product innovation, sourcing, merchandising and retail strategy to make certified organic textiles commercially viable at national scale.
IMPACT
The program became North America’s first GOTS-certified textile program at mass retail, positioning Target as an early leader in certified organic home products. The work established a long-term brand partnership, supported in-store activations and expanded collections, and helped shape Target’s early sustainability narrative by proving that responsibly sourced textiles could succeed in a high-volume retail environment.
